Description |
Sepia tone photo of a group of mostly young ladies and a few young men, posing on steps. The old Clinton School House can be seen in the background. Writing on verso reads: "Mr. Radcliff + his class 1903, I graduated 1902" The class teacher, Paul R. Radcliffe (1875-1947) may be standing in the back row on the right. He appears on the NJ Census1905 living in Clinton with his wife Elizabeth and his occupation is a teacher. Prior to Clinton he taught in Pennsylvania and Frenchtown, NJ. Then he recieved a Masters from Columbia Uniiversity before teaching in Fllemington, NJ. Eventually he became a superintentnt of schools in Red Bank and Nutley New Jersey. After his death Nutley builtt a new school on Bloomfield Ave. and named it after Radcliffee.
