This photograph was originally part of a photo album that belonged to Mrs. Sarah Spangenberg Eckel (1865-1952). A large number of children and one elderly man siting in front of a house with a picket fence, all dressed in special occasion clothing. A paper lantern and small bags or sachets are hanging from a tree. The sachets are filled with someting that can not be identified. This could be "May Day" or a "May Basket Day" spring celebation, a once popular event. |
